The result of this investigation and comparative analysis of the main products and procedures followed at an international level,
is the design of an emergency equipment: the SEA ANTI POLLUTANT KIT DUE TO HYDROCARBONS, which allows a ship loading fuel or lubricant
from a port station, to take necessary precautions and take control of an accidental spillage (up to 900 litres), avoiding rapid spreading and
using at all times NON POLLUTING products to immediately remove from the sea the hydrocarbon, leaving it ready in bags for later collection
and treatment by the company who deals with waste.
Due to its simple and easy use, it is the definitive solution to these kinds of spillages in shipyards, refineries, marinas, scrapyards,
oil platforms, etc.
The GAEXCON Kit incorporates, in spillages of up to1 Tm, all the requirements of the new Spanish Law. It can also avoid and control the
spreading of a larger spillage thus giving time for other measures to be implemented.
STAGES OF USE
PREVENTION:
With the majority of hydrocarbons, after an hour of the spillage occurring, the thickness of the
film that has formed can be up to a millimetre thick, which quickly reduces down to a few microns after three or four hours, this is why the spreading
effect is of great importance at the time of collection..
The preventive use of absorbent barriers in the most suitable position when faced with a dangerous manoeuvre represents an element of fundamental
importance when it comes to controlling spillages as we would avoid its
spreading and in this manner facilitate its control and rapid collection...
How do we act?...
IN THE EVENT OF A SEA SPILLAGE
If the necessary precaution has taken place by installing absorbent barriers, we already have a device which allows
us to act quickly, safely and efficiently. On the contrary, we must install the barriers quickly to avoid its spreading.
Once the barriers are installed, extend over the stain the absorbents (first the cloths and if these are insufficient due to the amount of hydrocarbon
spilt continue to apply Peat Sorb) which will begin to act
in a quick and efficient manner, absorbing the spilt hydrocarbon..
IN THE EVENT OF
SPILLAGE AT A QUAY
OR DRY AREA
Extend over the stain the absorbents (in this case first the Peat Sorb), which will begin to act in a quick and
efficient manner, absorbing the spilt hydrocarbon.
Once the absorbents have been saturated with the hydrocarbon, sweep them up with the brush in to a pile for their easy collection..
COLLECTION OF WASTE
Once the absorbents are saturated with hydrocarbons, they are removed from the sea with boat hooks and/or skimmers,
and if it is on land with the brush and a spade, they are put into waste bags, sealed and finally deposited on the dock so that they may be removed
by the relevant company that deals with waste.
